Clicking on latest post in the thread scrubber doesn't work

I’ve seen the subject problem occasionally but it’s repeatable in this thread https://preview.community.giffgaff.com/d/39-getting-creative

I’ve clicked on Latest post in the thread scrubber but as you can see the page is stuck on the OP. You can now repeatedly click on Original post and Latest post and whilst the thread scrubber jumps up and down the thread view doesn’t change.

Clicking on 21 of 21 posts does correctly move the view to the latest post.

If you move back to the OP and then hard refresh the browser page (CTRL+F5 for Firefox) you can rinse and repeat.

UPDATE: it looks like if the last post in a discussion is soft deleted it will prevent Latest Post from working (thanks to @harrrry ). If that post is restored or a new post added then Latest Post starts working again.

Possibly due to a soft deleted final message, which was no longer the final message in the thread.

I’ve added a soft-deleted message, but can’t test it myself because, being the author of the soft-deleted message, I get a placeholder for it – unlike everybody else, who is more likely to get the result of the Soft Deleted Message bug.

Having same issue on that thread on mobile as well post number will change but will still display same post soon as scroll thread list all way to last post (action added resolved not an actual post) will work fine.

Edit: have just noticed screen shot in op and thread in question both have 21 posts 🤔 is that just a coincide or what??

It has 24 posts, but some (including what is at present the final post) are soft-deleted and I think that’s more likely to be the problem. We already know that flarum doesn’t behave sensibly when asked to jump to a soft-deleted post.

Less obvious is why the problem did not show up when @endorphin checked it out the first time after I added that final soft-deleted post to it, but that could possibly be due to browser caching.

harrrry I added a post to https://preview.community.giffgaff.com/d/48-inline-code-not-working and that fixed Latest Post not working (I tested it before adding the post).

Soft deleting that last post then prevented Latest Post from working. Nice one harrrry
