Hey folks,
Welcome back to our preview site. Over the past few months, the community platform team have been working tirelessly to make our platform the best it possibly can be.
In the not too distant future, we will be upgrading the main community site to the latest version of Flarum (the underlying software we run on). This will bring about a whole host of tweaks, bug fixes and improvements, as well as some behind the scenes changes we’ve been working on. The best part, all the new goodness is here on this preview site right now. Let’s get stuck in, shall we?
What’s new?
Well, quite a bit! I won’t cover everything that’s changed, so that you can do some digging for yourself, but there’s a few things that we’d like to specifically call out.
Flarum
In a nutshell, we are upgrading from Flarum beta 11.1
to beta 13
. You can read more about the changes made in the spoiler below:
Reactions
Many of you asked for this, and we’re very happy to say that you can now see a breakdown of who reacted, and with which reaction, to any post. This new feature is tucked away in the post action menu:

Tap the ...
, then select ’View Reactions`

Then you’ll see a breakdown of reactions, and which members gave them.
Private discussions
Likely the first thing the eagle eyed folks amongst you will spot - we now include a handy link to your private discussions - direct on the ‘all disccusions’ page

Next up, head over to your settings; we’ve given you finer controls over different actions within private messages you are a participant in (this has very recently been applied to the main community too):

Nav bar sub-links
You’ll notice that the links we provide in the main header are now available in a drop-down menu. We’re still tweaking this, but would love to hear your thoughts…

Referral links
Whohoo! This is very much still a work-in-progress, and likely won’t be rolled out onto the main community just yet.
Hiding in your settings, you’ll see the following options:

This results in:
posts

member profile

hover member profile

Finally, the ‘hide’ toggle will hide referral links for you that any other members have chosen to display.
What do you think of this addition?
Dark mode
Created by our lovely member @mrjeeves . You may remember an early version of this on the previous iteration of this preview site. He’s been working tirelessly on improving the dark mode experience, including auto detecting the theme on your device.

Here’s a preview of the dark mode version of ‘all disccussions’, on mobile

Theme
Ooodles of bug fixes and general improvements in this department, many of them contributed by @mrjeeves - what a superstar!
Change of tag notification
A feature request from a member, you can now opt to receive a notification if a discussion is moved into a tag you’re subscribed to.

Task lists
Task list for today:
Is as easy as:
- [x] Wake up
- [o] Put the kettle on
- [ ] Do some work
giffgaff Icons
All of the giffgaff Design System icons can now be used in post content. For example:
My signal has improved loads! Can’t wait for my to renew!
[GGI]share-the-love-heart[/GGI]
My [GGI]4g[/GGI] signal has improved loads!
Can't wait for my [GGI]goodybag-icon[/GGI] to renew!
For the above to work, on the Design System page you’ll need to be inserting the filename of the icon you want, without the .svg extension. In most cases, that will match the name of the icon with ‘-’ in place of spaces. At the moment, though, that’s not always the case due to a few typos.
