Although it does appear that there is space to play with, some permission levels add additional icons alongside the notification bell, so that has to be considered.
Also, the relative space available is largely dependant on the screen resolution you’re using. For example, I use a huge 4K monitor, where there is abundant space, even with the additional icons mentioned above. However, a member with a much lower resolution display, might not have any space to play with.
That said, I have made a few tweaks to the breakpoints, and where available have allowed for a few additional characters to be displayed, for example previously my membername displayed as ianmor..., but now displays:
