Notifications on mobile could be improved

An improvement to notifications would be welcome: on the page that lists the tags, there’s 3 lines in the top left which is overlaid with a red dot when you have a notification. On other pages, there’s a < instead. Could a red dot be overlaid on it when there are notifications waiting? At least I’d know without having to visit another page to find out.

I think the best course of action would be to show a Notification icon on every page, like on Desktop.

At the moment, if you’re on a page and want to see your notifications you need to go all the way back to the forum index (Tags page) and then you can open the menu to see your notifications.

Maybe like this? It would probably have to be on the other side so as to not interfere with the icon.

ianmorland thanks. If the red dot could be overlaid somewhere on other pages, it would be great if notifications could be visited as well without having to change page first.

mrjeeves I’ve long thought that the burger menu should be shown on all pages on mobile, in place of the back button. This would give access to notifications easily (red dot appears remember on the icon).

Back navigation can be handled by swiping/browser back button, or possibly placing the back button to the right of the burger.

If the menu is always available I wonder if we could have it so it can be swiped in from the side too, that would make it way faster to access notifications ect
